Archos 80 and 101 G9 reviews: Bad timing

The 10.1-inch 101 G9 is a lot longer than the 80 G9. Both feel rushed to the market though.

The tablet business is pretty cutthroat (just ask HP), and with the release of the Amazon Kindle Fire just weeks away, it's only going to get scarier out there for would-be iPad competitors.

Timing of a tablet release is crucial, but does rushing a tablet to market to beat the wave of upcoming competition do more harm than good?

The versions of the Archos G9 tablets we originally received were not ready for prime time. The suffered from a malfunctioning camera, frequent lockups, and an overall buggy experience.

Archos has since released the Android 3.2.46 firmware update for the tablets, which has fixed most of the issues we initially ran into. There are still quite a few issues however, so check out the full reviews of the 80 G9 and 101 G9 to see what still irks me about these tablets.
