नई दिल्ली। कुछ दिनों पहले भारत के लिए एल जी2 की घोषणा की गयी थी और लंबे इंतजार के बाद अंतत: आज 41,500 रुपये के टैग के साथ यह भारतीय बाजार में आ ही गया।

1920 गुणा 1080 पिक्सल वाले 5.2 इंची आइपीएस एलसीडी डिसप्ले के साथ एलजी जी2 लांच किया गया। इसमें क्वाडकोर 2.26 जीएचजेड क्वालकॉम स्नैपड्रगन 800 प्रोसेसर और 2 जीबी एलपीडीडीआर3 रैम है साथ में एंड्रायड 4.2.2 जेली बीन भी है। इस फोन में ग्राफिक रैम और अच्छी विजुअल पफार्मेस है।

इसके अलावा इसमें एलइडी फ्लैश के साथ पीछे की ओर 13 मेगापिक्सल कैमरा और 2.1 मेगापिक्सल फ्रंट कैमरा है। साथ में 1080 पी एचडी विडियो व वीडियो कॉलिंग की क्षमता भी है। इसमें 3000 एमएएच की बैटरी है जो स्मार्टफोन के लिए काफी बेहतरीन है।

नई दिल्ली। इसी वर्ष जुलाई महीने में घोषित एंड्रायड 4.2 के साथ एचटीसी डिजायर 500 स्मार्टफोन जल्द ही भारत में आने की तैयारी कर रहा है।

इसके अलावा इसमें 4जीबी इंटर्नल मेमोरी, 64 जीबी माइक्रो एसडी कार्ड स्लॉट, 8 मेगापिक्सल ऑटो फोकस रियर कैमरा, 1.6 मेगापिक्सल फ्रंट कैमरा है। फ्रंट और रियर कैमरा दोनों में ही बीएसआई सेंसर है।

डिजायर 500 में 1800 एमएएच बैटरी है जो 12.1 घंटे का 3जी टॉकटाइम और 435 घंटे का 3जी स्टैंडबाइ टाइम देता है। डुअल सिम स्मार्टफोन में एजीपीएस सपोर्ट के साथ जीपीएस सपोर्ट भी है। इसमें ब्लूटूथ 4.0, वाई-फाई और डीएलएनए भी है। इसमें मजेदार बात यह है कि एक्सेलरोमीटर, प्रॉक्सिमिटी सेंसर और लाइट सेंसर भी है।

आपको बता दें कि सैमसंग का यह नया बजट फोन सैमसंग गैलेक्सी ट्रेंड 3 फिलहाल सिर्फ चीन में ही लॉंच किया गया है और अभी तक यह बात स्पष्ट नहीं हो पाई है कि विश्व के अन्य फोन बाजारों में गैलेक्सी ट्रेंड 3 कब लॉंच किया जाएगा।

News in Hindi: Terrorist taking lead on security forces

नीलू रंजन, नई दिल्ली। दो दशक के प्रयास के बाद जम्मू-कश्मीर में आतंकियों पर सुरक्षा बलों को मिली बढ़त इस साल कमजोर पड़ने लगी है। पिछले साल की तुलना में इस साल आतंकियों के शिकार बने सुरक्षा बल के जवानों की संख्या सात गुना बढ़ चुकी है। वहीं मारे गए आतंकियों की संख्या में एक चौथाई कमी आई है। सुरक्षा एजेंसियों को डर है कि यदि ऐसा ही रहा तो घाटी में एक बार फिर 90 के दशक की स्थिति दोहराई जा सकती है।

गृह मंत्रालय के पास मौजूद आंकड़ों के मुताबिक 2012 में आतंकी हमले में सुरक्षा बलों के सात जवान शहीद हुए थे, लेकिन इस साल इनकी संख्या बढ़कर 48 हो चुकी है। जबकि साल के तीन महीने अभी शेष बचे हैं। इसके उल्टे पिछले साल सुरक्षा बलों ने कुल 48 आतंकियों को मार गिराया था, लेकिन इस साल अभी तक केवल 39 आतंकी ही मारे गए हैं। आतंकियों के हाथों मारे जाने वाले निर्दोष नागरिकों की संख्या भी नौ से बढ़कर 10 हो चुकी है। यही हाल गिरफ्तार आतंकियों को लेकर है। पिछले साल कुल 98 आतंकियों को गिरफ्तार किया गया था, लेकिन इस साल अभी तक केवल 66 आतंकी गिरफ्तार किए जा सके हैं।

गृहमंत्रालय के एक वरिष्ठ अधिकारी ने कहा कि 90 के दशक में घाटी में आतंक चरम पर था। लेकिन 2000 के बाद इसमें लगातार कमी आती गई। 2002 में जहां 2020 आतंकी मारे गए थे और सुरक्षा बलों के 536 जवान शहीद हुए थे। 2011 तक आते-आते इनकी संख्या कम होकर क्रमश: 100 और 33 रह गईं थी। इसके बाद 2012 से घाटी में शांति की फिजा को भंग करने की पाकिस्तान की ओर कोशिश शुरू हुई और आतंकियों की घुसपैठ के लिए पाक सेना की ओर से फायरिंग की घटनाएं बढ़ गई। पिछले साल जहां सीमा पर फायरिंग की कुल 117 घटनाएं हुईं थी, इस साल उनकी संख्या अभी तक 144 हो चुकी हैं। 

वैसे पाक की तमाम कोशिशों के बावजूद घाटी में आतंकियों की संख्या पिछले साल की तुलना में कोई इजाफा नहीं हुआ है। घाटी में पिछले साल की तरह अब भी लगभग 220 प्रशिक्षित आतंकी सक्रिय हैं। जबकि पाकिस्तान में आतंकियों के प्रशिक्षण के लिए 42 कैंप चल रहे हैं। इनमें 25 पाक अधिकृत कश्मीर और 17 पाकिस्तान के दूसरे इलाकों में हैं। इन कैंपों में लगभग 2500 आतंकियों को प्रशिक्षण दिया जा रहा है।

नई दिल्ली। चाइनिज फूड, अनियमित भोजन और फॉस्ट फूड जैसे विकल्प अब युवा पीड़ी के लिए कितने खतरनाक बनते जा रहे हैं इसका अंदाजा भी कोई नहीं लगा सकता। वाणिज्य एवं उद्योग मंडल एसोचैम के ताजा सर्वेक्षण के अनुसार युवा पीढ़ी में कोलेस्ट्रोल की मात्रा अधिक पाई गई है जिसका कारण अनियमित खान-पान और फॉस्ट फूड को बताया गया है।

वर्लड हर्ट डे (24 सितंबर) से पहले दिल्ली में 25 से 45 वर्षीय लोगों पर किए गए सर्वेक्षण के अनुसार 38 प्रतिशत युवाओं में कोलेस्ट्रोल की मात्रा खतरनाक स्थिति को प्रदर्शित करती है। दिल की बीमारी में कोलस्ट्रोल की ज्यादा मात्रा ही सबसे महत्वपूर्ण होती है।

एसोचैम की स्वास्थ्य समिति के चेयरमैन डॉ बीके राव ने सर्वेक्षण की जानकारी देते हुए कहा कि पुरुषों की अपेक्षा महिलाओं में कलोस्ट्रोल की मात्रा कम पाई गई है। कुछ ही प्रतिशत महिलाओं में अधिक चर्बी और अधिक कलोस्ट्रोल पाया गया है।

सर्वेक्षण खास तौर पर प्राइवेट सेक्टर में कार्य कर रहे कर्मचारियों को ध्यान में रखकर किया गया था। आज की युवा को पीढ़ी आगे निकलने की होड़ में अपने खान-पान और स्वास्थ्य पर ध्यान न देना ही आने वाले समय में खतरनाक सिद्ध हो सकता है। हृदयाघात और उसके जोखिम से संबंधित यह सर्वेक्षण देश के प्रमुख शहरों में किया गया जिसमें दिल्ली, मुंबई, बेंगलुरु, कोलकाता, चेन्नई, अहमदाबाद, हैदराबाद, पुणे, चंडीगढ, देहरादून आदि शहर सम्मलित हैं। सर्वेक्षण में चौकाने वाली बात तो यह है कि दिल्ली जो कि राष्ट्रीय राजधानी है हमारे देश की यहां अन्य शहरों की अपेक्षा यहां के युवाओं में दिल की बीमारी सबसे अधिक पाई गई। जबकि दूसरे स्थान पर मुंबई रहा। सर्वेक्षण के अंतर्गत हर शहर से कुल 200 कर्मचारियों पर सर्वे किया गया।

मुंबई। दूसरों को हंसाने वाले कॉमेडियन कपिल शर्मा आजकल खुद दुखी हैं। पहले तो उनके टीवी सीरियल 'कॉमेडी नाइट विद कपिल' के सेट पर भयंकर आग लगने से लगभग 20 करोड़ का नुकसान हो गया और अब वे सर्विस टैक्स न चुकाने के मामले में फंस गए हैं।

खबर है कि कपिल शर्मा पर लगभग 60 लाख रुपए का सर्विस टैक्स बकाया है। सर्विस टैक्स डिपार्टमेंट के एक अधिकारी ने बताया, 'कपिल ने अपने आयोजकों से तो सर्विस टैक्स की रकम ली हुई है, लेकिन उसे अभी तक जमा नहीं कराया है। इसलिए उनके खिलाफ मामला दर्ज हुआ है।'

बताया जा रहा है कि कपिल शर्मा ने लगभग 60 लाख रुपए सर्विस टैक्स जल्द से जल्द चुकाने का आश्ववासन दिया है। अगर कपिल ने समय पर बकाया सर्विस टैक्स का भुगतान न किया तो उनके बैंक एकाउंट सील किए जा सकते हैं। सर्विस टैक्स डिपार्टमेंट ने बॉलीवुड की कई हस्तियों पर अपना शिकंजा कस रखा है।

News in Hindi: Asaram threat hunger strike in jail

जयपुर [जासं]। नाबालिग छात्रा के यौन शोषण मामले में पिछले 25 दिनों से जोधपुर जेल में बंद कथावाचक आसाराम बापू ने अब अन्न-जल त्यागने की धमकी दी है। उन्होंने कहा कि यदि उन्हें कुछ दिन और जेल में रहना पड़ा तो वे अन्न-जल ग्रहण नहीं करेंगे। गुरुवार को जेल में मिलने पहुंचे अपने बेटे नारायण साई और अन्य संतों से आसाराम ने यह बात कही।

आसाराम के जेल में बंद होने के बाद पहली बार जोधपुर पहुंचे नारायण सांई ने करीब एक घंटे तक अपने पिता से अकेले में मुलाकात की। इधर, जोधपुर जिला अदालत ने छिंदवाड़ा आश्रम की वार्डन शिल्पी को 30 सितंबर तक पुलिस रिमांड पर सौंप दिया। वहीं आसाराम के रसोईये शिवा ने कोर्ट में जमानत याचिका पेश की। अब तक की जांच में आसाराम के राजस्थान में जयपुर, टोंक, पाली, पुष्कर, जोधपुर, भरतपुर में अवैध आश्रम एवं गौशालाएं होने की जानकारी मिली है। इनमें से कुछ को सरकार ने अपने कब्जे में ले लिया, शेष की कार्रवाई जारी है।

जयपुर, जागरण संवाददाता। अजमेर बम ब्लास्ट के आरोपी भावेश पटेल ने बृहस्पतिवार को संप्रग सरकार के दो मंत्रियों कपिल सिब्बल और राजीव शुक्ला को भी लपेटे में ले लिया। कहा कि इस मामले में आरोपी बनाए जाने के बाद वह इन दोनों लोगों से मिला था। उसने अपनी जान को खतरा भी बताया।

राष्ट्रीय जांच एजेंसी कोर्ट में पेशी के बाद पत्रकारों से बातचीत में पटेल ने दोहराया कि गृह मंत्री सुशील कुमार शिंदे, कोयला राज्यमंत्री श्रीप्रकाश जायसवाल और कांग्रेस महासचिव दिग्विजय सिंह ने उसे मदद का आश्वासन दिया था, लेकिन उनकी शर्त थी कि वह संघ प्रमुख मोहन भागवत और वरिष्ठ पदाधिकारी इंद्रेश कुमार का इस मामले में नाम ले। ऐसा नहीं करने पर एनआइए के अधिकारी मुझे जान से मार सकते हैं। केंद्रीय मंत्री और कांग्रेस नेता उसे मरने पर मजबूर कर रहे हैं। आरोप लगाया कि एनआइए के अधिकारी उससे नियमित मारपीट करते हैं। इस मामले में कोर्ट ने भावेश को तीन अक्टूबर तक जयपुर जेल में रखने के निर्देश दिए। इस बीच पता चला है कि भावेश ने कोर्ट को एक पत्र लिखा है। इसमें उसने विधानसभा चुनाव को देखते हुए राजस्थान के भाजपा नेताओं एवं संघ पदाधिकारियों को केंद्र और राज्य सरकार के निशाने पर बताया है।

तिरुअनंतपुरम। दक्षिण भारत के दौरे पर पहुंचे भाजपा के पीएम प्रत्याशी नरेंद्र मोदी ने पार्टी कार्यकर्ताओं से सूचना का अधिकार (आरटीआइ) कानून और सोशल मीडिया को प्रचार अभियान में हथियार की तरह इस्तेमाल करने को कहा है। वहीं, कांग्रेस के समग्र विकास पर कहा कि यह देश के लिए नया नारा नहीं है। उन्होंने जम्मू-कश्मीर में लगातार हो रहे आतंकी हमलों का जिक्र करते हुए प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह और उनके पाकिस्तानी समकक्ष नवाज शरीफ की वार्ता के औचित्य पर भी सवाल उठाए। भाजपा के पीएम प्रत्याशी बनने के बाद केरल की पहली यात्रा के दौरान मोदी श्रीपद्मनाभस्वामी मंदिर भी गए।

बुधवार रात केरल के तिरुअनंतपुरम में पार्टी कार्यकर्ताओं के साथ बंद कमरे में हुई बैठक में मोदी ने कहा कि भ्रष्टाचार के खिलाफ लड़ाई ही 2014 लोकसभा चुनाव के केंद्र में होगी। सूत्रों के मुताबिक, उन्होंने कहा कि पार्टी की विचारधारा और संदेश बड़े पैमाने पर पहुंचाने के लिए सोशल मीडिया को प्रभावी तरीके से इस्तेमाल किया जाए। बृहस्पतिवार को कोल्लम में माता अमृतानंदमयी के 60वें जन्मदिन पर आयोजित कार्यक्रम में मोदी ने कहा कि कांग्रेस का समग्र विकास का नारा देश के लिए नई बात नहीं है। हमारे संत युगों से यही संदेश देते आ रहे हैं। उन्होंने संतों के 'लोका समस्ता सुखिनो भवतु' का उल्लेख करते हुए कहा कि अगर हम उनके विचारों और सिद्धांतों का अनुसरण करते रहें तो देश महाशक्ति बन सकता है। उन्होंने विश्वास जताया कि मजबूत आध्यात्मिक आधार और पारंपरिक मूल्यों के सहारे भारत दुनिया का नेतृत्व करेगा। इस दौरान जब उन्होंने मलयालम में कुछ वाक्य बोले तो लोग खुद को तालियां बजाने से नहीं रोक पाए। अमृता मठ में हुए इस गैर-राजनीतिक कार्यक्रम में कांग्रेस और वामदल के नेताओं ने मोदी के साथ मंच साझा नहीं किया। हालांकि, कुछ गैरभाजपाई दलों के नेताओं ने कार्यक्रम में शिरकत की।

तमिलनाडु के त्रिचरापल्ली पहुंचे मोदी ने एक जनसभा में कहा कि लोगों को बांटना कांग्रेस के डीएनए में है। इससे पहले त्रिची की युवा रैली में बम की सूचना मिलने पर सुरक्षा व्यवस्था कड़ी कर दी गई थी। दो लाख से ज्यादा लोगों की मौजूदगी में मोदी ने कहा कि महात्मा गांधी ने कांग्रेस के डीएनए को पहचान लिया था और वह आजादी के बाद ही पार्टी को खत्म कर देना चाहते थे। मोदी भाषण के शुरुआती दो मिनट तमिल में लोगों से मुखातिब हुए और इसके बाद उन्होंने हिंदी व अंग्रेजी में बात जारी रख लोगों का दिल जीत लिया। उन्होंने कहा कि देश को बचाने के लिए कांग्रेस और उसके सहयोगी दलों को हटाना ही होगा। 

'आधार कार्ड को लेकर कांग्रेसी ऐसे नाच रहे थे, जैसे यह बीमारी की औषधि हो। अब सुप्रीम कोर्ट के केंद्र की खिंचाई करने के बाद लोग पीएम से जानना चाहते हैं कि इस पर कितना धन खर्च हो चुका है।' -नरेंद्र मोदी

रांची। टीम इंडिया और चेन्नई सुपरकिंग्स के कप्तान महेंद्र सिंह धौनी का कहर तो दुनिया ने दुनिया के हर मैदान पर देखा है, लेकिन गुरुवार शाम अपने घर के मैदान (रांची) पर जब माही उतरे तो नजारा कुछ और ही था। चैंपियंस लीग टी20 के इस मैच में धौनी के सामने धवन के हैदराबाद सनराइजर्स के गेंदबाजों की एक ना चली और देखते-देखते सब कुछ उलट-पुलट गया। धौनी तो धौनी, उनसे पहले उनके बेहद अच्छे दोस्त और टीम इंडिया के धुरंधर बल्लेबाज सुरेश रैना ने भी धौनी के घरेलू मैदान पर गेंदबाजों की गेंदों पर खूब दावत उड़ाई।

नई दिल्ली। फोटोग्राफी के शौकीनों के लिए नोकिया ने 41 मेगापिक्सल कैमरा वाला लुमिया 1020 भारत में भी उतार दिया है। घरेलू बाजार में इसकी बिक्री 11 अक्टूबर से शुरू होगी। इसकी कीमत की घोषणा 10 अक्टूबर को की जाएगी। मगर माना जा रहा है कि यह 47-48 हजार रुपये रह सकती है। फिलहाल यह अमेरिकी बाजार में बिक रही है जहां इसकी कीमत 800 डॉलर है।

नई दिल्ली। फोटोग्राफी के शौकीनों के लिए नोकिया ने 41 मेगापिक्सल कैमरा वाला लुमिया 1020 भारत में भी उतार दिया है। घरेलू बाजार में इसकी बिक्री 11 अक्टूबर से शुरू होगी। इसकी कीमत की घोषणा 10 अक्टूबर को की जाएगी। मगर माना जा रहा है कि यह 47-48 हजार रुपये रह सकती है। फिलहाल यह अमेरिकी बाजार में बिक रही है जहां इसकी कीमत 800 डॉलर है।

Google Reveals "Hummingbird" Search Algorithm, Other Changes At 15th Birthday Event

At a special event in the garage where Google was born, the company announced a new “Hummingbird” search algorithm is live and especially designed to handle complex queries. Google also announced a new design for tablets and phones, richer direct answers with comparison, a new song exploration feature and notifications of Google Now information for iOS 7.

Fake Online Reviews Lead To Heavy Fines For Some SEO Companies

 New York State Attorney General, Eric T. Schneiderman, announced that 19 companies have agreed to pay out a total of $350,000 in penalties for submitting fake reviews. Some of the 19 companies are SEO companies and the term "SEO" is found nine times in the formal announcement.

This was a year long investigation named "Operation Clean Turf" with the goal of finding fake consumer-reviews on websites and encouraging that practice to stop.

In recent years, the reputation management industry has exploded as businesses have become increasingly concerned about their online reputations. So-called search engine optimization ("SEO") companies routinely offer online reputation management as part of their services.

The investigation revealed that SEO companies were using advanced IP spoofing techniques to hide their identities, as well as setting up hundreds of bogus online profiles on consumer review websites to post the reviews. The investigation found that many consumer-review websites have implemented filters to detect and filter or delete fake reviews, with Yelp's being the most aggressive.

It goes on an on and of course, some of these SEO companies called out with need to hire an SEO company to do reputation management for them after this.

Google+ To Power YouTube Comments

Google and YouTube announced yesterday that the comments on YouTube are going to be powered by Google+. 

Google said, "starting this week, you’ll see the new YouTube comments powered by Google+ on your channel discussion tab."

Why?

Well, for one, a unified Google experience for sharing. But most importantly, it should result in less spam Google said.

• Comments you care about move to the top: You’ll see posts at the top of the list from the video’s creator, popular personalities, engaged discussions about the video, and people in your Google+ Circles.
• Join the conversation publicly or privately: You can choose to start a conversation so that it is seen by everyone on YouTube and Google+, only people in your Circles or just your bestie. Like Gmail, replies are threaded so you can easily follow conversations.
• Better ways to moderate comments: You have new tools to review comments before they’re posted, block certain words or save time by auto-approving comments from certain fans. These can help you spend less time moderating, and more time sharing videos and connecting with your fans.

इस बात में कोई दो राय नहीं है कि सैमसंग की ही तरह माइक्रोमैक्स की कैनवस रेंज को काफी सराहना मिल रही है। उपभोक्ताओं की इसी सराहना की वजह से माइक्रोमैक्स ने कैनवस सीरीज, जो अभी तक स्मार्टफोन के लिए चर्चित थी, उसने 16,500 रुपए की कीमत के साथ टैबलेट लॉंच किया है।

हाल ही में एपल ने अपने बहुप्रतीक्षित आइफोन 5एस को लॉंच की और जैसा कि अनुमानित ही था आइफोन 5एस अब तक लॉंच हुए एपल के सभी आइफोन में सबसे महंगे आइफोन के रूप में बाजार में आया है। एपल ने पहली बार अपने आइफोन को चीन में लॉंच किया है और पहली बार ऐसा हुआ है जब काले और सिल्वर की जगह आइफोन को सुनहरे रंग में लॉंच किया गया है।

एपल की कॉपी कर एचटीसी वन ने भी अपने नए हैंडसेट को सुनहरे रंग में लॉंच करने की घोषणा कर दी। अब 'सोने' के प्रति उपभोक्ताओं के इस मोह को जानने के बाद सैमसंग कैसे पीछे रह सकता था तो उसने भी अपने लेटेस्ट मॉडल सैमसंग गैलेक्सी एस 4 को भी सुनहरे रंग में उपलब्ध करने की योजना बना डाली है।

सैमसंग गैलेक्सी एस4 का यह नया मॉडल अभी सिर्फ खाड़ी देशों में ही उपलब्ध होगा लेकिन अन्य देशों में 'गोल्ड' सैमसंग को कब लॉंच किया जाएगा, किया जाएगा भी या नहीं अभी यह बात स्पष्ट नहीं हो पाई है।

Google May Have Penalized Another Major Link Network: Ghost Rank 2.0

Google has significantly penalized another underground link network over the weekend and we believe that one of the link networks targeted by Google is named Ghost Rank 2.0.

A few weeks ago, Matt Cutts, Google’s head of search spam, tweeted “Thinking of ghost-related puns for a spam network. “They try to look super natural, but using them will dampen your spirits.” Then I noticed a nice number of webmasters complaining about a weekend Google update.

From there, I received an anonymous tip from an SEO I trust in the industry that told me at least two link networks were significantly targeted by Google over this past weekend. Digging deeper, I spotted a forum thread at Black Hat World where the manager of the network has admitted to some of their clients being negatively impacted by the links in their network after Google took action this weekend.

Leith in the thread, who appears to be the manager of Ghost Rank 2.0, said, “unfortunately, it looks like you were one of the clients affected from the recent update.” Leith added, “Google is getting more strict with these russian links and that’s why we’re changing things up to better improve the service.”

I received a copy of an email from my source, not specifically confirming or denying this was related to the Ghost Rank 2.0 network, but telling me this came from an underground link network. The email said that Google specifically took actions they’ve never seen before, calling the action “more esoteric in nature” than the previous ones. Here is a copy of that email as a PNG file:

It seems from the complaints in the Black Hat World that a nice number of Ghost Rank 2.0 customers were impacted by some Google action has taken over the weekend.

Here is one of many complaints from a Ghost Rank 2.0 user:

This service wasn’t good at all. I was at 10th and now my site also is gone. Rank only increased to 8 for a few days. Poor me, I fell prey to the reviews. I am at 98th position now.

Google has taken action on underground link networks before. They did so with SAPE links back in March and has continuously targeted paid and link spam over the course of the past couple years.

Google would not comment on this story.

Verizon's new 4G LTE router has a landline jack, offers a peek at the future of online

Verizon has a new 4G LTE home internet router that includes voice, and it's meant to replace your home phone line and cable internet subscriptions in one fell swoop. The "Verizon 4G LTE Broadband Router with Voice" (rolls right off the tongue!) packs in WiFi connectivity as well as three Ethernet ports and a phone line jack for your landline. Up to 10 devices can connect to it wirelessly, though we wouldn't suggest as much given the LTE connectivity.

Should you choose to pick one up ($50 w/ two-year plan or $200 outright), there are a few options for subscription: data only, voice and data, or just voice. Initially, if you snag that voice-and-data plan, the router itself is actually free -- and it's available starting today. Of course, as CNET points out, Verizon's "Share Everything" data plans come with limitations (notably, data caps) and that means you'd better be a pretty light internet user (or employing the service for a brief period, like a vacation). 

Interestingly, Novatel Wireless -- the company behind Verizon's new LTE router hardware -- is also offering its own, non-carrier-branded version of the same device, dubbed, "MiFi Home." The price and release date for MiFi Home varies from carrier to carrier -- a Novatel Wireless rep tells Engadget, "MiFi Home is offered through our carrier partners and distribution so pricing is set by our carrier partners."

Ginger is a new app for creating presentations, somehow tied to Adobe

Ginger isn't available yet, but it is already generating buzz. Not for its marketing video, nor for its simple website, but for its potential tie to a massive company in the software world: Adobe. Ginger promises to enable users to "show your story to the world in minutes" via its upcoming mobile application -- you can create slides with audio and visual components and then push them to various social media. It sounds a lot like PowerPoint for mobile, albeit with fewer options (no mention of video, for instance) -- not exactly Adobe's first foray into mobile, but another interesting step for the company.

The Adobe tie-in pops up when signing up for Ginger's "keep me in the loop" email newsletter. A confirmation email from gingerfeedback@adobe.com arrives as confirmation, which tells us that either Adobe's involved or the company's been kind enough to Ginger to offer up free email hosting space (an unlikely scenario, we'd say). Of course, we've reached out to Adobe for further details and will let you know if we hear back.

Google Search adds support for hashtags, pulls related info from Google+

The latest way Google is working social media into its search engine is with the use of familiar hashtags, but at least for now that doesn't include direct results from competitors like Facebook and Twitter. Available initially to users in the US and Canada, searches that include hashtags (like #ExpandNY, for example) will gain a right rail display relevant Google+ posts that were either shared publicly or to you. Even if you're not an avid user of the #, since Google+ autogenerates hashtags for many posts, it should be easy to find related info for pretty much any topic. According to Zaheed Sabur, there are also links to search said hashtag on other social sites, although which ones weren't specified. Even if you're in the right area you probably won't see the new feature just yet, as it's going live "within the next few hours."

Twitter announces Twitter Alerts for SMS and push notifications during emergencies

We just saw Twitter broaden its use of push notifications for tweets it thinks you might find interesting, and the social network is now also expanding their use for a more serious matter. The company has just announced a new Twitter Alerts feature, which it says will deliver "accurate information from credible organizations" during an emergency or natural disaster. To ensure you don't miss them, those alerts will be delivered via SMS in addition to a push notification on Android or iOS, and you won't be getting notifications from just anyone who wants to send them. At launch, only a hundred odd NGOs and governmental agencies in the U.S., Japan and Korea are able to send the alerts, although Twitter says it will be expanding that to include organizations in other countries. You can sign up to receive the alerts by going to an organization's Alerts setup page; just add "/alerts" at the end of its Twitter URL, or find it on Twitter's list of participating organizations.

iPhone 5s and 5c shipping to regional carriers on October 1st, but not to US Cellular

When your name is on a Major League Baseball stadium, and you're a mobile operator, you carry the iPhone. Unless you're US Cellular, that is. For reasons that cannot be comprehended by mere mortals, one of the United States' largest regional carriers still isn't offering the iPhone in any variant, despite promising back in May to carry Apple products before the year's end. In fact, things have gotten so bad over at USCC that its Facebook page has gone dead silent since September 13th, with customers far and wide ranting in the comments section about the carrier's inability to get the one phone they all want.

Making matters worse for USCC is the fact that Appalachian Wireless, C Spire, Bluegrass Cellular, Cellcom, GCI, MTA, Nex-Tech Wireless, Ntelos and Strata are all lined up to start selling both the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s on October 1st. We suppose even more could be added as time rolls on and the supply / demand balance rights itself, but it's probably high time for US Cellular holdouts to head on over to a rival. Patience only gets you so far, you know?

Pebble goes up for sale through AT&T stores starting September 27th

Pebble, the (massively) Kickstarted e-ink watch that connects to your smartphone, is about to become available at AT&T stores. Both brick-and-mortar and the online store will sell the device for $150, with availability starting online this month and expanding to physical stores at some point in October. AT&T touts its exclusivity as "the exclusive carrier for the hot new Pebble smartwatch;" the watch has also been available via Best Buy for some time now. Oculus Rift latency tester now available for pre-order, knows better than your eyes

Sure, you could try and measure the motion-to-photons latency present in various Oculus Rift virtual reality games using your naked eye, but the latency tester Oculus just put up for pre-order is much easier and far more accurate. As demonstrated by Oculus Rift inventor Palmer Luckey in the video after the break, simply pop off one of the Rift dev kit's two lens caps and pop on the latency tester. After plugging it in via mini-USB, the tester reads the latency per eye and outputs a number on the rear -- voila ici.

Like with so many things Oculus, folks who put in their name early have first crack at the latency tester. The rest of us can put in our names now for pre-order and they'll start shipping out in early October -- Oculus tells us, "they're sitting in our warehouse now, waiting for new homes." If you're looking to get in on the action you probably shouldn't wait, as only a "limited quantity" is available for now, though more could be produced "based on demand."

Instagram refreshed for iOS 7 with larger images and videos, available for download today

Instagram may have missed the initial iOS 7 update run last week, but the retooled iPhone app is good to go now. Version 4.2, available for download today, brings design tweaks that mesh better with the latest iOS, with a slightly simpler interface and rounded profile pictures in the feed. Additionally, photos and video are a bit larger, and the resolution has been increased as well, enabling a better viewing experience overall. Instagram for iOS 7 can be yours right now. Alcatel One Touch Evolve and Fierce coming to T-Mobile this October

Not only is Alcatel One Touch on a roll in Europe and Asia, it's starting to make more strides in the US. Sure, this isn't the company's first rodeo in this neck of the woods -- the Shockwave came to US Cellular last fall, while the Idol has been available online as an unlocked handset for a few months -- but it's refreshing to see it get its foot in the door with one of the big four networks. This morning, Alcatel announced that it has two budget-friendly devices coming to T-Mobile next month: the Evolve (pictured above) and the Fierce (pictured below).

The Fierce is the nicest of the pair, featuring a 4.5-inch qHD display with a 1.2GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, 1,800mAh battery, 5MP rear camera and Android 4.2. The Evolve, on the other hand, has a 4-inch WVGA screen, Android 4.1, 1GHz MT6575 SoC, 4GB total storage, microSD support up to 32GB, a 5MP rear camera and 1,400mAh battery. Certainly prime material for the budget category; the Fierce will come in silver and slate and will retail for $170 off-contract (that's $20 down with monthly payments of $6), while the Evolve will start at $100 off-contract ($28 down with $3 monthly payments). Alcatel tells us that both phones will be offered for a slightly lower cost during the holiday season, in case you're looking for a more basic smartphone for the kiddos.

Skype for Mac version 6.9 is out, brings more specific screen sharing options

Not a major overhaul by any means, but good news for anyone who's been using Skype for Mac and has been frustrated by a few lingering limitations. The latest build, version 6.9, corrects an annoying bug that caused the name field to overlap with mood messages on certain profile pages. The Skype team also changed the way screen sharing works, so that you can share just a specific window if you want, and not the whole screen. Other changes: when you do a search from the toolbar, phone numbers for Mac contacts now appear in the results. If you hover your cursor over links, it'll now look like a hand. Finally, Skype added support for three more European languages: Swedish, Finnish and European Portuguese. And that's all she wrote! Google Shopping Express intros new mobile app, expands Bay Area service

Google began testing its new same-day delivery service, Shopping Express, with a limited trial for San Francisco customers back in March, and it's apparently proven successful enough for an expansion. Starting today, residents of the greater Bay Area -- from San Francisco to San Jose -- can streamline their to-do list by having local stores deliver straight to their doors. Included on the list of participating retailers are national giants like Target, Toys R Us, Walgreens, Staples and Whole Foods (just to name a few), though some smaller businesses will also take part. The service is also expanding to mobile phones, as Google is launching a new Shopping Express app for both Android and iOS devices; with it, you can search for items, browse different stores and place orders from your phone. Google Search app for Android updated (update)

Today's the day for updates to Google's Android apps. The latest to get a revision is the company's main Search app, which sees a slew of new features and minor tweaks. That includes the ability to display a related website based on your current location, as well as offer sports and flight updates in realtime instead of on a 15-minute delay. Beyond that, you'll now be able to set reminders based on things like album or book releases, view event tickets from select websites, and see additional Smart TV cards (which require an actual smart TV) for news and music that's currently on your TV. Another feature that's said to be "rolling out gradually" is the ability to automatically tell others when you've left work. You can find the full rundown of all the new features (and the app itself) in the Google Play store.

Update: We'll have to cool our jets for now -- while there is a fresh APK for Google Search in the Play Store, it appears the features in the changelog are just hanging around from the last update. We'll let you know if anything new and interesting surfaces (with the pace of updates rolling out today, a Google change-tracker dashboard would be nice).

The R9 290X (shown above), R9 290 and R7 260X (after the break) will support TrueAudio, a new programmable pipeline that enables advanced audio effects without burdening a PC's main processor or a dedicated sound card. Not that the range will be lacking in visual prowess, of course. While the company isn't revealing full specifications, it claims that the R9 290X flagship will have five teraflops of total computing power versus the four teraflops of the previous generation. The boards will ship sometime in the "near future," with prices ranging from $89 for an entry R7 250 to $299 for the mid-tier R9 280X. AMD isn't divulging the R9 290X's price, but pre-orders for the card will start on October 3rd.

The firm has also revealed a new programming interface, Mantle, that makes the most of the Graphics Core Next architecture found in many of its recent processors and video chipsets. Developers who build the low-level code into their games should get better performance from GCN-based devices without having to re-optimize for each platform -- a title meant for Radeon-equipped PCs should still behave well on a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, for instance. Mantle will debut on Windows through a December update to Battlefield 4, and should spread to other platforms in the months ahead.

Rockstar reveals new GTA Online details prior to next week's roll out

Ahead of next week's GTA Online launch, developer Rockstar Games took to its blog to outline what to expect come October 1st. The post goes to great lengths to establish that the entire experience is free -- unless you want to buy in-game currency with real money -- and incredibly you-centric. Feedback you provide by emailing or posting on the official forums will help shape the game. Where you spend your time and what you end up doing (Sports! Heists! Chaos!) in San Andreas will affect the direction the developers take with future content and how they tune the overall experience. However, while the entry answers a few questions it also creates some new ones. Specifically, we're curious about the company's use of "roll out" to describe GTA:O's release. An incremental approach is probably best considering the game's current server strains, but we're sure that's not what its some 16.5 million players will want to hear.
